Labour of love :D

There are close to 20 ornaments in the Trove right now, and after I've had ice cream, I'm planning on making more!

Origami + vintage wallpaper samples + rescued vintage jewelry = Lady Love Holiday!

Tara of T-Love's Shop and I are thrilled to announce that we are creatively collaborating on crafting handmade holiday ornaments combining origami, vintage/recycled wallpaper & vintage jewelry.    The line is called "Lady Love Holiday," and is terribly pretty if I do say so myself.

Yesterday evening we presented a selection to the lovely Lindsay Davis, owner of Fait Ici, a thoroughly charming eco-conscious general store located 5 mins from Lionel-Groulx metro.   She was bowled over, and Lady Love Holiday ornaments will soon be available for sale at the shop!    If you'd like a preview, Tara will also have a selection available alongside her gorgeous jewelry at the Old Skool Crafts Bazaar this weekend.

I'll be making more ornaments this evening and will be posting photos on the new blog very very soon.

So very excited!

Aimee's Treasure Trove Weekend: Sexy Saturday, Shopping Sunday

Hello all!   This weekend was a BLUR of Movember photo shoots (including a Marilyn Minter - inspired one),  origami ornament-folding (more on this soon!) and having a lot of fun shooting another week's worth of outfits with the lovely Ophélie!    Stay tuned for those starting tomorrow.

Aimee chose two weekend outfits to round out her week of Trove finds, but in all the kerfuffle I forgot to post 'em!

Shopping Sunday:  A combination of three of her earlier Trove choices for a knockout red ensemble!

*SOLD* Aimee's Treasure Trove Thursday: "Parent Teacher Interview"

When Aimee flounced out of the Trove in this mini-frock and declared, somewhat girlishly, certainly breathlessly, that this was "Parent Teacher Interview Thursday,"  I almost dropped my camera laughing!   She then shimmied past my puzzled looking Betty-cat (who eyed the crinoline layers), and then stepped onto our balcony, prompting an almost immediate wolf-whistle from the street.
You may remember this frock from the original posting in May, but I think that this pic does a better job of showing off its potential for Party Fun.  Thanks Aimee!

Aimee's basic item:  black heels (off camera)
Dress, size 6-8, price $15 (reduced!)
.

****Vest SOLD**** Aimee's Treasure Trove Monday: Corporate Casual!

Speedy media maven that she is, Aimee has already put together a fun vlog post about her whirlwind Trove initiation yesterday!  She had an hour to put together a week's worth of outfits, pulling 8 items (including accessories) from the Trove, mix 'em up with her 3 basic pieces (white long sleeved tee, slim blue trousers, patent leather heels), and all for under $200!  She came in at $160 :)  Not shabby, eh?

****VEST SOLD****
Here's her pick for Monday, a look she dubs "Corporate Casual."

Aimee's basics:  tee, trousers, heels
Trove find:  $20 - fitted 1990s black velvet vest, size S, made in Hungary.  Love the double row of brass buttons!  Sweetheart neckline brings an unexpected feminine touch to the look.

Movember portrait sessions going strong!

Hello Trovers!

As you may have gleaned, I won't be posting very often this month as the Movember portrait sessions are proving to be QUITE popular.  Hurrah!  I'm booked every day this week at lunch, but I definitely am open to booking weekend shoots as well.    This weekend I worked with three groups who offered to make larger donations and it was a pleasure to accomodate 'em!

For your viewing pleasure:

On another note, Tara of T-Love and I are working on a fun holiday creative collaboration, and I hope to be able to offer you sneak peeks soon.  Here's a couple of hints:  origami & vintage jewelry!

Style challenge!  The gorgeous and entrepreneurial Aimee Davison of OneHundredJobs fame spent a giddy couple of hours in the Trove yesterday.  Her challenge?  Put together a week's worth of outfits for less than $200, using 8 Trove finds plus 3 wardrobe basics:  black trousers, blue jeans, and a white tee!  She succeeded admirably and I look forward to seeing the video post later this week.

****SOLD**** Carved wooden bird: $15

****SOLD****
Charming carved wooden bird with antiqued finish.   Quite lightweight, yet stands a substantial 10" tall, this charming fellow would look very well on a windowsill, or as part of a vignette featuring kitschy birdcages (see inspiration shot below.)
Price: $15

.

****SOLD**** Vintage 70s faux-pearl and gold-tone necklace (with matching bracelet!): $15

****SOLD**** Who says pearls need to be stuffy and prim?   The gold-tone chain is interlinked with the faux pearls for extra shine and stylish edge!  Wear it solo or pile on your other necklaces for a cheekily luxe look.
Price: $15 (includes a matching bracelet!)

.

****SOLD**** Pepsi & Pisa - two old wooden crates: $25 each or $40 for the pair

****SOLD****
Up for grabs: a pair of vintage weathered wood soda crates.  These definitely look like they've made their tour of the factory floor, backs of trucks and restaurant storage rooms.   Which sounds nasty - but looks grand!   Would make a creative recycling organizer, file organizer, or wall shelving.
Price: $25 each or $40 for the pair

Inspiration: vintage crate wall shelves

Movember portrait shoots are HOT HOT CAKES, baby, YEAH!

Hello all!

I've started a separate blog for the portraits I'm shooting to raise funds for Movember (eight shoots this week so far).   Feel free to check it out,  and please do contact me if you've any questions!  I can shoot pretty much anywhere downtown during my lunch hour (have Bixi key, will ride!).  If you split the cost with a friend it's only $12.50 each for a few nice black & white portraits of you two together - emailed to you within 24 hours of the shoot!  An individual session is only $20 - sweet deal, and it all goes to a great cause!

$20 portraits for Movember!

Warm greetings!
I’m proud to say that I am a member of a Movember team.   All of my office-mate male Stache Bros (over 25 of them!) are starting clean-shaven and will be growing moustaches this month to raise awareness and funds for men’s health.   Watch for some VERY hairy faces to be gracing the streets of our fair city in the coming weeks!

While I can’t grow a moustache, I’d still love to contribute to a very worthy cause!

In order to raise funds, I’m going to put my camera & portrait skills to good use this month.

So, for all you downtown bunnies - are you in?

What you get:
  • 10 min lunchtime photo shoot at either Place Ville Marie or the McGill campus
  • 2 classic black & white portraits, which you can print it to 8”x10.”
  • File will be emailed to you within 48 hours
  • A sweet image for your Facebook profile :)  Wayyy better than inebriated party pics.
  • A nice Christmas present for the aunt, grandmother, cousin who’s always complaining that she has no recent photos of you.
  • The satisfaction of knowing you’re contributing to a good cause.
All for the paltry sum of $20 per person, or $25 for two people together (no individual portraits in this second option)

See samples of my portrait work below!

Donations can be made directly to my MoSpace as well: http://ca.movember.com/donate/your-details/member_id/542612/

Let me know if you’re interested!

****SOLD**** Vintage cloisonné earrings: $15

****SOLD****
These earrings look like Art Deco meets high gloss subway tiling meets thick cloisonné meets HARD CANDY and somehow it all adds up to something very pretty indeed!  The black and off-white sections are divided by gold-tone strips, and the faceted yellow center stone reflects and refracts light beautifully.  If Tamara de Lempicka's lush ladies wore earrings, they might look like these.
Price: $15

.

****SOLD**** Stacking vintage high gloss ceramic mugs, set of 6: $20

****SOLD****For the Star Trek fans out there:  wouldn't these mugs look right at home at Quark's on DS9?  That oddly planed shape, the high gloss glaze, and the way they stack on the wooden stand!  If you have limited storage space but still enjoy a giant hot cuppa, these mugs may just need to follow you home!
Price: $20 for the set of 6
Soooo shiny.
View from the side.

Stacked, from the back!
Interior glaze - looks like coffee drips!

Close up of glaze.
