There are two schools of thought on the wearing of pearls. The delicate (Jackie O in a kerchief and a pendant) and the bold (Madonna, 80s, torn lace and layers of pearls). The three-strander pictured above manages to sit right between the two. Worn with a classic black sheath, the faux pearls serve to highlight and frame your face. This blouse was made by an Indian tailor for my fiance's mother while they were living in Dubai back in the early 80s. It has an elasticized panel in the middle of the back, at the waist, which cinches the waist in nicely. The short flutter sleeves are comfortable & ideal for light layering. The aqua, pink and pale orange abstract print is very very 80s :) Would look very nice tucked into a high-waisted pale skirt, or worn obi-belted over flowy trousers.

As much as I enjoy the look of a swingy mod trapeze dress, I've long since resigned myself to the fact that 5'2" & curvy looks stumpy & sad in anything without a defined waistline. Hurrah for defined waistlines, I say! In that vein, I present to you this vintage white crinoline. It falls to mid-calf and has an elasticized waist for comfort. I'd say it would fit a range of size 4 to 9.

This is a very pretty cut glass lidded butter dish, sold by Avon in 1973. The diamond & starburst pattern really catches the light beautifully.
Can be used for its original purpose, however I'd have a hard time keeping something so pretty tucked out of sight and would be tempted to use it to hold candy or small cookies.
