Back soon!

New posts are coming, dear Trovers, but it may be a day or two as we've had quite the Father's Day Weekend!

On Saturday, we hosted both of our families for a big ole BBQ.  S. deftly handled the grill, and I contributed Moroccan carrot salad (carrots, mint, oranges, honey, red onion, toasted pine nuts) and some lemon-garlic shrimp.  The shrimp were a particular favourite of our one Very Pregnant Guest.

We spent most of Sunday at the Royal Victoria Hospital, because our Very Pregnant Guest went into labour!   I will say, that spending Father's Day in the Birthing Centre takes the day to a different level of intensity.    At 3:35pm, little Leila Sarah was born, red-faced, round, and utterly enchanting.   S. & I watched in wonder as littlest Leila blinked & slowly waved her little fists up at her Very New & Obviously Smitten new Dad.   Her grandmom beamed, her mom caught little naps while smiling contentedly,  her dad radiated wonder, S. grinned megawatts at everyone and practiced saying "I'm an uncle."   Everyone cried.  It was perfect.

My daughter Katie was born on June 19th 8 years ago and every few years makes Father's day extra special for her daddy!
