****SOLD**** Vintage 1940s or 50s British enamel sterling silver travel shield charm earrings: $20

British travel shield charms, baked enamel on sterling silver, with curly edge.

****SOLD****

Perfectly mismatched set of earrings with vintage flare!

These travel shield charms date from the 1950s and are composed of baked enamel on sterling silver.    They're quite small (1/2" tall, 1/2" wide) and hallmarked sterling silver on the back.  One is marked Skegness (a reknowned seaside resort) and the other is marked Manchester, which was the site of the world's first railway station, and is home to the most valuable football team in the world.

"Travel shield charms became popular in the 1940s when recreational travel became more common in the United States and Europe. It was a time when many women owned charm bracelets and added mementos of life events and their various travels to their bracelets. Many of these older travel shield charms have withstood the years and are still in very good condition." Source: http://www.thecharmcellar.com/
